Originally trained as a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, I take a relational approach to therapy. My special interests lie in relationships, attachment, and trauma, in particular complex trauma, resulting in Dissociation and Dissociative Disorders.
I strongly believe that our earliest relationships and formative experiences cast long shadows over our present lives, intricately shaping the ways in which we connect with others and navigate endings, loss, and adversity. Often, these influences operate beneath our awareness, subtly guiding our responses to life’s challenges. We might find ourselves overwhelmed by emotions or by an enduring sense of inadequacy, feeling as though we do not belong or that something within us is fundamentally wrong. Shame may settle heavily upon our sense of self.
Within our interactions, certain patterns may emerge—recurring dynamics that leave us feeling preoccupied, anxious, depressed, or set apart in loneliness. Life can begin to feel stagnant, as though we are trapped and unable to move forward or respond effectively to what we encounter. Such persistent feelings are rarely random; they are often the echoes of profound, unresolved experiences from our past, continuing to influence our present state of mind and our capacity to cope.
I am genuinely passionate about providing my clients with a secure base for exploration of feeling and thoughts and a reparative experience. A safe space where you can gain a greater understanding of your experiences, relational and attachment difficulties.
I take a collaborative approach to therapy as the relationship between therapist and client is at the core of the therapeutic process and forms the heart of meaningful change. Therapy lies to a great extent on building a strong therapeutic alliance defined by safety, mutual respect, and genuine trust. At its foundation, this relationship is nurtured through exploration, empathy, compassion, communication, and authentic connection, all working together to foster true healing and growth.
